There are not many families who can claim to be in the fashion business for over a century. The Mandelli story is a story of a strong family, women and men, and even stronger traditions of italian excellence.
Mr. Enrico Mandelli, 1878-1954 began selling leathers in 1900. Thus began the odyssey of 4th generations of Mandellis to be leaders in the transformation of exotic, rare and luxurious materials into unique and exquisite garments that feel like second skins to the wearer. Paolo Mandelli, 1907-1973, joined his father in 1925 and spent the rest of his life expanding the business. Infact after WW2 he was the first to create motorcycles jackets and sporty leather outerwear thanks to Moto Guzzi motorcycles. In 1954 Paolo with his wife Ermelinda founded Emme Srl and in 1964 this name was changed in Enrico Mandelli Spa just in honor of the founder: the great grandfather Enrico. Paolo’s son, also named Enrico, joined the family business in the early ‘60’s while the company was growing in the production of high quality outerwear and sportswear using the highest quality leathers, noble fibers such as vicuña and cashmere combined with luxurious furs. For the past 50 years, the Mandelli’s were considered the best high quality producers of outerwear and sportswear in Italy and worldwide.Italian fashion was waking up in the ’70′s and Enrico Mandelli SpA participated in high end trade shows and became known as one of the best and most dependable leather and outerwear companies at that time.Walter Albini, considered the father of Pret-a-porter, was the first of many designers to work closely with the Mandelli’s. Enrico Mandelli SpA produced also for Soprani and Basile in the ’70′s. They were in the vortex of creativity, when they signed, in the ’80′s, what became a 10 year licensing arrangement with Franco Moschino. A number of years later, the Mandelli’s also signed a 13 year licensing agreement to produce the leather collections of Dolce & Gabbana. Nowadays Andrea, Enrico’s son, is at the helm of the company and he intends to build on his inheritance and further the creativity and excellence for which the Mandelli name is known. Andrea has focused on developing and expanding the Mandelli products; in updating all the machinery with up to the minute technology and in developing a network of distribution that now reaches across the globe. He was raised with the philosophy that there are no compromises to quality nor to excellent customer service. The family’s motto is and has been “consciousness, craftsmanship and creativity”. To be a connoisseur is not only to know the field and to excel in it; but also to be passionate about it and to pursue the finest qualities available. There is no replacement for the best. Today Enrico Mandelli Spa is the only italian company that has found technologies to create the softest crocodile available on the market and it’s a successful company, totally made in Italy. Mandelli continues to serve the very top retailers worldwide and to work with the most successful global brands in Italy. Nowadays the company is always settled in the north of Milan and counts more then 250 members in its staff.
